Stella’s Story

Stella CzerniewskiStella’s testimony and lifestyle touched many people. She was never in a bad mood and will be remembered for her love of people, her infectious laugh, and the way she made everyone she came in contact with feel special.

She loved spending time with her family. Stella had two sons, Donald and Shawn, and one step-son, Matthew. Celebrating birthdays and attending ball games with her kids were her two of her favorite things. And she talked to her mom on the phone at least twenty times a day.

Stella is best remembered for the love she had for her church. She faithfully served in many roles including Sunday School secretary, special musician, choir member, organ player, and bus worker at her church, Victory Baptist Church in Florissant, Missouri. Stella loved to sing for the Lord. She will be remembered for her solos and music.

Upon receiving the news in June 2006 that her colon cancer had reached stage four, Stella created a Top Ten List. She trusted in her Lord Jesus Christ, and she decided to live her last days to their fullest. It was on that list hanging on her refrigerator door that Kayla saw Stella’s wish of going to Disney World, which began the the steps to Stella’s Wish Foundation coming into existence.

Stella was a very special and caring person. She lived her faith. She put everyone else first in her life. This was apparent at her visitation and funeral service where more than 1,000 people attended to pay their respects.

Stella’s favorite Bible verse:
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” – John 3:16

On January 18, 2007, Stella lost her battle with colon cancer.
Only gone from our sight, not our hearts, she is now with the Lord in glory.
